Hey, I’m Kelly
My curiosity and drive to honor my creative spirit has shaped my life (and it can help YOU TOO!)
Kind & Funny
is my dream
I didn’t always know where I was headed, but it was clear to me from an early age that I would be going there creatively.
-
My grandparents were the first to encourage my creative exploration. I remember my grandmother helping as I collected rocks from their garden, cleaned them with soap and water, and rearranged them back in intricate patterns. From an early age, the world was my canvas.
-
As I got older I would “help” my dad in his video store, making change for customers, restocking videos, and dribbling my basketball through the aisles, never realizing I was soaking up the entrepreneurial work/play environment that he created out of his passion for movies.
-
Playing competitive basketball, I got my first taste for creative expression trying to entertain my basketball teammates on long road trips with epic short stories, poems, jokes, and mixed-media collages constructed from the SkyMall catalog. Bball got me a scholarship to Cal-Berkeley, where I took that creative writing to a new level with screenplays, stories, and more.
-
When I “grew up” I went down many paths, including screenwriting in LA. PR in NYC, e-commerce in Denver, and a few more along the way.
My first brand-building experience was for Good Ol’-Fashioned Party, my mom’s event-planning business.
My last stop before Kind & Funny was the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, where for six years I honed my design, marketing, and strategy skills, working with an incredible team to create a human-centric brand complete with humor, gravitas, and CREATIVITY that changed what museums could be to the people of their city.
Kind & Funny is now my life!
To wake up every day in service of fellow dreamers is why I started Kind & Funny, and why I pursue it with every part of me. The rock collector, the video store clerk, and the badass professional are all standing by to help you discover your authentic brand and bring it to the world, transforming your life by generating more freedom, more abundance, and more creativity.
In 2023 my Kind & Funny dreams for my clients expanded & I added my boo and partner in the business …
Jed!
Jed’s the smartest, kindest, and most amazing person in my universe. He wrote me a little bio…
I was once asked to describe Kelly in preparation for our upcoming appearance on the Meredith Vieira show and all I could come up with on the spot was, "I don't know, she's just ... Kelly." Fail, I know, but what I was trying to express was her singularity. Because, really, how do you describe a person, let alone an amazing person like Kel? Facts? Kelly is 5'5", INFP, enneagram type 7 (The Enthusiast), a Cal Berkeley grad, and a Colorado Native. Adjectives? Kelly is creative beyond creative. Statements? Kelly is a passionate, ambitious dreamer who believes in your dreams and ambitions and passions probably even more than your closest friends, and she really does have the talent to help you achieve them (I've seen it happen). But all of this doesn't scratch the surface, doesn't do her justice. She's just ... Kelly, in a way that no one else is or could be. And since my words fall short, I'll leave it to her friend who recently said, "You are a special person. Maybe the most special person." If you're thinking of working with her I encourage you to just schedule a call—I think you'll totally understand. –Jed
